
Flights in and out of MIA placed on hold due to inclement weather
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Severe weather at Miami International Airport (MIA) prompted officials to temporarily stop all inbound and outbound flights. According to Airport Officals, flights grounded at 3:18 p.m are now cancelled as of 4:34 p.m. however several flights are still experiencing delays. Check Your Flight
According to officials, approximately 17 incoming flights were diverted to neighboring airports, including Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FIA), Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) and Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers. Around 20 other flights are still experiencing delays at MIA, including 11 departures and nine arrivals.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Miami issued a severe thunderstorm warning for east central Miami-Dade County until 4:45 p.m. NWS doppler radar detected a severe thunderstorm that produced hail and winds in excess of 60 mph near South Miami.
